Cross Roads is so fortunate to have parents continue the tradition of creating a supportive community. Each family is asked to volunteer a total of 10 hours throughout the school year. There are many ways to do this including joining the PTO, becoming a homeroom parent, or signing up for committees such as, campus clean up, teacher appreciation week and the many other special events offered throughout the school year.
Become a Member of the PTO - Expand your knowledge of the school beyond your child's classroom by becoming a member of the Board.
Volunteer as Homeroom Parent - Learn about the responsibilities of being a Homeroom parent, the liaison between teachers and the other parents in your child's class.
Take Part In Events - All Cross Roads events need minds, hands and donations.
In addition to volunteering, we ask each family to provide two items for our annual silent auction or to donate toward the purchase of items. The money raised through the silent auction is used to fund our special programs such as music, Spanish, ACTIVE and special events like Snow Day.
Research studies show that the number of food allergies and the severity of the reactions are increasing in children. Cross Roads, as always, is concerned with providing a safe environment for each of our students.
Peanut allergies are a great concern for several children in our community. Peanuts and peanut-based products (i.e. peanut butter, candy with peanuts included, Chex mixes with peanuts, etc.) are prohibited from the classrooms in lunches and at class parties. While we understand the possible inconvenience this policy may incur, the safety and well being of each of our students is of the utmost importance.
Alternative nuts + nut butters are acceptable based on the collective allergies in each class.
Enrichment Opportunities
Three times a year (Fall, Winter and Spring), a variety of fun, optional classes are offered extending the regular school day by an hour (1pm-2pm). Past classes include: Musical Theater, Dinosaurs, Down on the Farm, Ballet, Kids Cooking and Pirates. A student may enroll in as many classes as availability allows. Each session runs 8-10 weeks and meets once a week. Class registration begins two weeks before the first class date.
Fee: $120-150 per child / session depending on number of weeks in session
